Reverse Osmosis Systems Remove a Wide Range of Drinking Water Contaminants

Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems force water, under pressure, into a module that contains a semipermeable membrane and several other filtration steps.

Custom-Built RO Systems for High-Purity Water

Nelsen Water Solutions residential and commercial reverse osmosis (RO) systems are designed to purify water by effectively reducing impurities, contaminants, and minerals through a semi-permeable membrane. The quality of these systems can vary based on several factors, we use NSF-grade high-quality parts in all our systems. Nelsen RO systems are of unmatched value in quality and price. Investing in a Nelsen Water Solutions RO system can lead to better water purification, greater efficiency, and longer-lasting performance.

The typical Reverse Osmosis system consists of:

  • Filters: Both residential and commercial RO systems can have multiple filtration stages. These stages can include sediment filters, carbon filters, and post-polishing. The more stages a system has, the better it can target different types of contaminants, leading to higher water quality.
  • Membrane: The heart of a reverse osmosis system is its membrane. High-quality membranes are more effective at removing many contaminants, including dissolved solids, heavy metals, bacteria, and viruses. The material and construction of the membrane play a significant role in the system's overall performance and lifespan.
  • Carbon Pre-Filter: Made from activated carbon or carbon block, serves several essential functions, including improving the feed water quality before it reaches the RO membrane. It also helps remove chlorine, chloramine, organic compounds, and particulates, enhancing the overall performance and lifespan of the RO system.
  • Storage Tank:  The size of the tank can vary depending on the RO system and the household's water consumption needs. The stored water should be used within a reasonable time frame to ensure its freshness and quality. Additionally, our RO systems incorporate a shut-off valve that stops the RO process when the tank is full to prevent overfilling and potential damage to the system.
